Dear Reader and Friend,

Here in my opinion is a blatant propaganda piece masquerading as unbiased journalism. Frankly it disgusts me how so called journalists, get away with this crap all the time. It’s time we Critical Thinkers start to challenge these crap slingers, and their opinion pieces (editorials) masquerading as solid un-biased journalistic reporting. It’s time to call the propaganda what it is, an underhanded attempt to cause the masses to be brainwashed into the propagandists (reporters) beliefs.

Let’s start with the title of the alleged un-biased piece…

With science undisputed, climate bill opponents turn to cost

Biased? or un-biased?

So I will analyze the article for it’s propaganda, and make some editorial comments as well.

But First, let’s review the SEVEN Propaganda devices…

Color Red: Name Calling — generally used to giving an idea a bad label which is used to make us reject and condemn the idea without examining the evidence.

Color Gold: Glittering Generality — associating something with a “Virtue Word” (a word that has several meanings or can mean something good, or bad to the people who hear it but is not quantifiable e.g. freedom it sounds good, makes us feel good, but it means different things to different people.) A Glittering Generality is generally used to make us accept and approve an idea or thing without examining the evidence. Or reject and not approve an idea, or thing without examining the evidence.

Color Blue: Transfer — carries the authority, sanction, and prestige of something or someone respected and revered over to something or someone else in order to make the later acceptable; or it carries authority, sanction, and disapproval to cause us to reject and disapprove something the propagandist would have us reject and disapprove.

Color Maroon: Testimonial — this can either be telling a story of how someone or something got to this point, or it can be having a respected or hated person say a given idea, action, or person, or group is good or bad.

Color Tan: Plain Folks — is the method to make people feel the speaker or group the speaker represents is just like them “one of us” or the speaker attempts to convince his/her audience that he/she and his/her ideas are good because they are “of the people” the “plain folks”

Color Pink: Card Stacking — involves the selection and use of facts and half truths and even lies, illustrations, distractions, and logical or illogical statements in order to give the best or worst possible case for an idea, program, person, or product. Just keep piling on “evidence” in his/her favor.

Color Green: Band Wagon — “Everybody is doing it.” Or at least all of us are doing it. And with this thought and “proofs” the propagandist tries to convince us that all the members of the group we belong to or want to belong to accept his/her program and therefore we must follow the crowd and “jump on the bandwagon”

[Card Stacking combined with Out and out lying]With science undisputed, [Card Stacking alone] climate bill opponents turn to cost

WASHINGTON — Opponents of [Glittering Generality]landmark legislation that would cut greenhouse gas emissions have taken a new approach this week as the Senate began debate on what could eventually be a huge reordering of how the nation gets and uses energy.

[Editors Note: The writer/propagandist of this piece is trying to imply that any “landmark” legislation must be good]

[Name Calling] Instead of challenging [transfer]scientific evidence of a warming world[transfer ends], they’ve focused on costs.[name calling ends] In the end, these opponents say, consumers would be hurt.

[Editors Note: there is a group of 31,000 + scientists right here in the USA broken down in the following professions: as of 6/6/08 there are 31,072 petition signers includes 9,021 PhD; 6,961 MS; 2,240 MD and DVM; and 12,850 BS or equivalent academic degrees. Most of the MD and DVM signers also have underlying degrees in basic science. see Global Warming Petition Project

Outlined below are the numbers of Petition Project signatories, subdivided by educational specialties. These have been combined, as indicated, into seven categories.

<ol type"1">

Atmospheric, environmental, and Earth sciences includes 3,697 scientists trained in specialties directly related to the physical environment of the Earth and the past and current phenomena that affect that environment.

Computer and mathematical sciences includes 903 scientists trained in computer and mathematical methods. Since the human-caused global warming hypothesis rests entirely upon mathematical computer projections and not upon experimental observations, these sciences are especially important in evaluating this hypothesis.

Physics and aerospace sciences include 5,691 scientists trained in the fundamental physical and molecular properties of gases, liquids, and solids, which are essential to understanding the physical properties of the atmosphere and Earth.

Chemistry includes 4,796 scientists trained in the molecular interactions and behaviors of the substances of which the atmosphere and Earth are composed.

Biology and agriculture includes 2,924 scientists trained in the functional and environmental requirements of living things on the Earth.

Medicine includes 3,069 scientists trained in the functional and environmental requirements of human beings on the Earth.

Engineering and general science includes 9,992 scientists trained primarily in the many engineering specialties required to maintain modern civilization and the prosperity required for all human actions, including environmental programs.

All signed a petition that states:

“We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.

There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the earth.”

All 31,072 scientists signed this very statement.]

[Card Stacking] ”One huge change from previous debates is that only one person has raised a question that (global warming) is a problem,“[end card stacking] [transfer]said Manik Roy of the Pew Center on Climate Change, which works with large businesses.[end of transfer] ”The No. 1 thing to me is that it’s talk about how to solve it rather than whether to solve the problem.“

Under the global warming bill, or [glittering generality] Climate Security Act,[end of glittering generality] it would no longer be free for factories or power plants to emit carbon dioxide and other global warming gases into the atmosphere. Fees would be levied to curb such [name calling]pollution.[end name calling]

It’s not expected the bill will become law this year. President Bush has said he’d veto it if it passes. But with the presidential candidates supporting some version of the bill’s main ideas, it’s widely thought that emissions controls will be put in place in a year or so. For that reason, the debate now offers a hint of opposition to come.

Senators opposing the bill this week warned that the legislation could make the cost of gas go up. They’ve cited an EPA study that said that the bill could raise prices 53 cents a gallon over 22 years, or 2 cents a year, from 2008 to 2030.

[Editor's Note: What just 2 cents a year. Why we could afford that (said sarcastically)]

[Band Wagon] Several senators —Republicans Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander of Tennessee and Judd Gregg of New Hampshire — said they agreed with the concept of limiting emissions and charging a fee for polluting, but wanted different ways to use the proceeds or a program on a smaller scale. Sen. John McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, has said he wants more money for nuclear power.

Republican John Warner of Virginia is a sponsor of the bill, and Republicans Elizabeth Dole of North Carolina and Olympia Snowe of Maine also spoke in support of it. [end of Bandwagon]

But most Republican senators echoed the remarks of the president on Monday. Bush said the bill would impose “roughly $6 trillion of new costs on the American economy” and called it a tax increase. The president rejects mandatory regulation of emissions.

[Editor's note: why is it "Bush" why not President Bush... he is the president of the USA after all. They referred to Clinton as “President Clinton”]

Bush’s $6 trillion remark referred to the estimated amount of money the bill would generate by 2050 from sales of permits to emit pollution. The overall limit on greenhouse gas emissions would be lowered each year.

[Editor’s Note: Notice how conveniently the writer neglected to mention the money SIX TRILLION DOLLARS in additional costs, while pooh poohing that objection with the lame excuse “overall limit on greenhouse gas emissions would be lowered each year” That is NOT an answer to dispute the SIX TRILLION DOLLARS this un-necessary law would cost. If you want to dispute something, then actually dispute it. She may as well have said, in answer to the SIX TRILLIONS DOLLARS... the train stopped running past my house each day. Because that has as much bearing as “ overall limit on greenhouse gas emissions would be lowered each year” neither address the cost, or attempt to dispute it. This is good journalism?]

The legislation spells out how money from the permits would be used, including $802 billion in a [glittering generality] tax cut for those who need help with higher energy costs and $955 billion for deficit reduction. Billions also would go to help develop cleaner fuels, improve energy efficiency and help wildlife. [glittering generality ends]

The legislation would “raise taxes, raise substantially gas prices, cause worker layoffs and hurt the economy, and leave us less competitive in the world marketplace,” Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., said Wednesday. He called it a “sneaky tax” that would drive up energy costs.

Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., a sponsor of the legislation, said better fuel economy standards and alternatives to gasoline would drive down demand, end dependence on foreign oil and lower the cost of driving. She and other supporters argued that redirecting part of the proceeds from the sale of the pollution permits to renewable energy would create jobs and replace fossil fuels with cleaner alternatives.

[Editor’s Note: If Senator Boxer was truly concerned about lowering the cost of gas, AND reducing USA dependence on foreign oil... she would support drilling in Anwar — an area that was specifically set aside for drilling under Jimmy Carter’ presidency. She would also support drilling off the coast of Florida, in the mid-west, and Montana, Wyoming and Colorado. If this is really what Senator Boxer said. We don't know if she said the above claimed quote, as it is not quoted in quote marks by the writer.]

“The arguments they’re throwing at us are very shallow. In essence, not one of our opponents has ever even addressed the issue of global warming. They’ve just tried to get us off track on the fictitious attack on gas prices, which falls totally flat,” Boxer said at a news conference.

[Editor’s Note: notice Senator Boxer was quoted in the sentence above... with quote marks even!]

[Band Wagon] Boxer noted that The National Academies, the government’s top advisers on science, engineering and medicine, have reported that the Earth is warming and that most scientists agree [Band Wagon ends] that human actions that have increased greenhouse gases in the atmosphere are to blame.

[Editor‘s Note: Maybe they lost all traction because the press refuses to report on a side or report information that does not agree with their individual point of view and do their best to hide facts that point out the fallacy of their beliefs? Could that be it?

[Name Calling] Shortly afterward, the debate stopped altogether Wednesday afternoon.
###

Dear Reader, think things through. Think critically. Just because an article is in a newspaper and not on an editorial page, does that mean it‘s not an editorial? Does that mean the article is not biased?

Try and find the writer‘s motives for writing the story, and what belief they are trying to persuade you of, if any.

Then verify for yourself what you read or heard. Don‘t let opinion masquerade as fact.

A Bit of A Change… Global Warming… Uh Cooling… Uhhhh

As the saying goes, the only thing that remains constant is change. If it is not moving it is dead.

Well, the earth is NOT dead. Right now here in Florida tomorrow is projected to be one of the coldest days almost at the record cold day for that date (Feb. 28) in history or recorded temperature records.

Global Warming? What A Bunch of…. Hooey!

While the alarmists in our midst are screaming and yelling about man made global warming ” or as Al Gore embarrassed at the record cols, ice and snow around the world this winter have taken to calling it “Man made climate change”… Whatever you call it, I call it Bull Shit! And every time I see another story about global warming, and how people are causing huge temperature increases (in the 1970’s it was man made global cooling, in the 1920’s it was man made global warming… why can’t these genius pseudo-scientists make up their minds) I pull on an ever higher pair of boots.

Want Proof About the Alarmist Global Warming?

Here is proof its a bunch of alarmist Bull Shit…

Check out Blog: Science Temperature Monitors Report Widescale Global Cooling And by the way, it is a pretty cool (no pun intended) site/blog with some pretty cool articles on it.

Also here is an interesting commentary Forget global warming: Welcome to the new Ice Age This article is complete with research not just opinion.

One last link to a commentary you ought to read. It does give some motive behind the reasons of the scare mongers… why they are doing it. The piece is entitled The eclipse that saves Al Gore It’s worth the read. Remember the saying if you want to get to the bottom of something…

Follow The Money

And as reported by Reuters Global 2008 carbon market expected up 56 percent the first paragraph starts out with “NEW YORK, Feb 26 (Reuters) – Global trade in credits representing reductions of planet-warming gas emissions should rise 56 percent this year as Europe tightens its flagship program to tackle greenhouse gases, a carbon analysis group said on Tuesday.” But you really should read the whole article.

And from Associated Press (I’m surprised they would actually report something negative about Al Gore and global warming)… A piece entitled Gore warns on ‘subprime carbon’ industry And they report “ ‘You need to really scrub your investment portfolios, because I guarantee you – as my longtime good redneck friends in Tennessee say, I guarandamntee you – that if you really take a fine-tooth comb and go through your portfolios, many of you are going to find them chock-full of subprime carbon assets,’ the former vice president said.

Carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels is the leading component of ‘greenhouse gases,’ which scientists say are playing a key role in warming the globe.

Gore’s remarks before a high-profile business crowd that collectively controls some $20 trillion in capital were intended to unleash a financial ripple effect that could force the world to start putting a price on carbon emissions.”

Let’s get to the key… Gore has a company that buys and sells Carbon Credits Gore goes in front of a a high-profile business crowd that collectively controls some $20 trillion in capital were intended to unleash a financial ripple effect that could force the world to start putting a price on carbon emissions. Who benefits? Could it be Al Gore’s carbon trading company? I know that is a rhetorical question.

Do you really think those evil, vile, corporations will lose money buying carbon credits? Of course not. It will be just like corporate taxes. The additional costs will be passed on to us.. the consumers. And then the politicians will decide that the minimum wage is not enough to live on, so they will pass a law increasing it, and everything will remain as it is just a hell of a lot more expensive.

Anyway, that’s all for now. Welcome to the new Ice Age.

I just read an article from AP entitled
2007 a Year of Weather Records in U.S.

It comes from the AP under their heading of “Science”
Written by an “Honest” journalist — well at least his mother
thinks so. Named Seth Borenstein.

Sounds interesting. Was it filled with complete and honest facts
and statistics, or was it filled with twisted facts and
propaganda?

Let’s see…

In the first paragraph…

“January was the warmest first month on record worldwide – 1.53
degrees above normal”

EVER?…

In the History of the World?

And just what is the “Normal” temperature of the world?

So do tell, Seth the Science reporter,… how do we determine the
“normal” temperature of the world?

Hmmmm?

And his second paragraph continues…

“And as 2007 drew to a close, it was also shaping up to be the
hottest year on record in the Northern Hemisphere.”

And here’s his “proof” of that… right there in his third paragraph…

“U.S. weather stations broke or tied 263 all-time high
temperature records, according to an Associated Press analysis
of U.S. weather data.”

Seems to me I also recall U.S. weather stations breaking or
tying all-time LOW temperature records, and all time SNOW
records.

Doubt me?

Great…

Here’s Proof…

Denver (ABC News Chanel 7)
June 8, 2007
http://www.thedenverchannel.com/weather/13467296/detail.html

“DENVER — Residents of Colorado’s Front Range awoke Friday
morning to frost-covered windshields as temperatures dropped to
the lowest readings in over 50 years.

The temperature at Denver International Airport fell to 31
degrees at 5:44 a.m. Friday, setting a new record low for the
date.

The previous record for June 8 was 37 degrees, last set in 1974.

In addition to the new record low, the sub-freezing temperatures
also became the latest freeze on record for the city of Denver
and the second-coldest June temperature ever recorded.

The previous date of latest freeze on record was June 2, 1951.

Temperatures in Denver have only dropped below freezing two
other times during the month of June; 32 degrees on June 1,
1919 and 30 degrees on June 2, 1951.”

Yup. Sounds like Global Warming to me.

Oh… Wait… But that was June 2007.

How about July?

http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/news/breaking_news/story/137451.html
July 24, 2007 — the Sun News (local paper Myrtle Beach)

“Myrtle Beach saw a record low temperature on Monday, and the
cooler weather is sticking around this week.

Monday’s low temperature of 62 was recorded at 5:48 a.m.,
according to the National Weather Service. The previous record
of 68 was set in 1950. The average low on July 23 is 72.”

What?…

This can’t be!

There must be some mistake.
Take the temperature gauges and put them on a hot tar roof. That should fix the problem…

According to NOAA National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the US Dept of Commerce.

http://www.noaanews.noaa.gov/stories2007/images/jan2007-temp-ranks.jpg
NINE States recorded temperatures below normal.
25 States above normal
Well… Plus Washington DC.
But there is a lot of Hot Air in Washington DC.

Then of course Seth the Science reporter praises Al Gore. But I ask you, the Pseudo-Science, and outright lies in Al Gore’s move… It had as much believability as the movie called “The Day After Tomorrow” where New York City gets swamped by a huge tidal wave and then freezes over.

He continues with further “Proof”…

“The climate panel, organized by the United Nations, released
four major reports in 2007 saying man-made global warming was
incontrovertible and an urgent threat to millions of lives.”

Sounds impressive!

So let’s see, how many “Scientists were involved in determining “man-made global warming was incontrovertible?

Was it… ummm… 29?

No… That’s too many.

Really?

Actually it was a whopping 18.

Boy am I embarrassed at having my facts wrong. I thought it was 29. Good thing I verified my material.

“A panel of scientists has presented the United Nations a detailed plan for combating climate change. VOA’s correspondent at the U.N. Peter Heinlein reports the strategy involves reaching a global agreement on a temperature ceiling.

A group of 18 scientists from 11 countries is calling on the international community to act quickly to prevent catastrophic climate change.”
http://www.voanews.com/english/
archive/2007-02/2007-02-28-voa2.cfm?
CFID=176773832&CFTOKEN=18763637

18 of the smartest minds in the world…

How many scientists refuted the “consensus”?

Was it 19?
Nope.

Was it 29?
Nope

How about 400!

Yes you read that right FOUR HUNDRED Scientists.

Read about it here.
It’s in a report from the US Senate
http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Minority.SenateReport

“Over 400 prominent scientists from more than two dozen countries recently voiced significant objections to major aspects of the so-called “consensus” on man-made global warming. These scientists, many of whom are current and former participants in the UN IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), criticized the climate claims made by the UN IPCC and former Vice President Al Gore.”

And that’s just the start of it…

Please read the report. The level of the scientists there will astound you.

Now the nonsense being promoted by Al Gore, Seth the Science reporter Borenstein, and the like would have gone over years ago.

This is how Propaganda works.

Get a message. Control the content. Give only your side or a very watered down other side.

They are doing their best to twist facts for their purpose. They hope people will not really take the time to discover the truth. As said in the TV show the X-Files… “The Truth is out there.”

In fact, thanks to the Internet it is far, far, far harder to use propaganda.

Why?

Because propaganda depends on the ability of the few to control the information the many (that would be us) get.

So those in newspapers control what you read.
The “journalists” control what “facts” go into their stories.
The editors control what stories get into the “news” and where they are placed.

When the public (that would be you and I) can find the facts on our own… we can get to the real story. We can find the real truth, and we can not be fooled.

Their attempts to obfuscate the truth are doomed to fail. Unless and until they (the few) can completely regulate ALL forms of communication.

So here’s to a Free Flowing of Information Future.

Oh and for the record… I do not dispute the earth seems to be getting warmer. I do dispute that mankind has anything to do with it, just as mankind has nothing to do with the temperatures in Mars rising at the same time the temperatures on the earth are.

And certainly mankind had nothing to do with the receding of the ice age in prehistoric times either… Though with “environmentalists” saying that cows farting are causing global warming… maybe it was dinosaur farts that caused the prehistoric ice age to come to an end.
